Air Hockey: a guide for your next round
Use a short break to learn the rhythm of Air Hockey. Score seven goals before the computer. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions. Read the objective before making your first input. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move.
Move your paddle against a computer opponent and score through the opposite goal.
Practice with a purpose
Watch the feedback after an action. A message can explain whether the input was accepted or whether a rule needs attention. Keep the objective visible.
Aim for this result
Score seven goals before the computer. Read that aim before choosing your first action. Try to explain the aim in your own words.
How a round unfolds
- Start.
- Move your mallet within the lower half.
- Strike toward the upper goal.
- Goals reset the puck.
Choosing and moving on screen
Mouse/touch movement or Left/Right controls. Keep the playing area visible while using these controls. Make sure you are interacting with the game rather than the surrounding page.
A useful example
An angled hit can bank off a side wall. Compare this with the rule that governs the move. Notice the change in the playing area.
Where a round can go wrong
You cannot move into the computer’s half. A different version of the game may use a different rule. Take enough time to read a new position. If a game has a timer, learn its controls first rather than searching for them during the round.
